Party Central rents out party materials and supplies for events, weddings, disaster relief organizations, and so forth. And when I say party supplies, I'm not just talking party hats and whistles. They do tables, chairs, bars, tents, and there are scores of options for everything you could think of. The previous site was very difficult to manage, was missing all sorts of products/options, and could not be viewed on mobile devices.
This project was just complex enough to make me have to reach in my problem solving bag of tricks. We needed the client to be able to easily add and display a ridiculous number of items that had numerous nested categories, variable numbers of options, and this all needed to be mobile compatible. I used the Joomla CMS on this project with heavy use of K2's variable custom fields, multiple attachments for photos, and nested categories for products. I setup variable custom fields for the different categories of products, and iterated through the products at various places in the application. I heavily modified a testimonial component that allowed users to submit their own testimonials that were then randomly sorted and displayed on the home page after approval by the client. I also setup and successfully tested a constant contact integration that allowed user submitted information to automatically be added to their email blast software. Design on this sweet little project was performed by Brianna Reed, and I rocked the development side.
