NDC is a service provider for medical distribution, sales, and purchasing. They provide services ranging from distribution and logistics, sales and marketing support, technology solutions, and more. Their website is extremely high traffic due to the number of partners they have across the United States. They also connect with various external databases and systems which was another factor to consider. NDC's partners look to them for different technological and design needs, so their website needed an upgrade to keep up with the times.
There was much discussion over what all the website was going to do, and I was ready for a pretty massive custom build. In the end, phase 1 of the website ended up being a massive 'brochure' site to effectively communicate what NDC can do for it's partners.
The site was designed by Dylan Mullins, and I built the site on the ExpressionEngine platform. There was a TON of content pages and data structure to be figured out. I spent many hours with the content strategist, Carla Swank, to get everything hammered out. I used custom ExpressionEngine channels for both the News section and the Case Studies so an admin user would be able to easily add and adjust those sections. In the end, I was happy with the structure and maintainability that I was able to build out for them.
Future iterations of the website are going to contain user access controlled content, and the sharing of data from external systems. Webstasy is poised to deliver when they're ready.
